This is a compact, well built zoom lens with macro close focusing and multicoated glass, suitable for Contax/Yashica bayonet mount manual focus SLR cameras such as the RTS series, FR and FX ranges and many others (see full list below). It's in excellent condition and boxed with lens caps and hard case. Contax/Yashica lenses can also be used on some digital cameras with adapters (not included - see below).
The focal length range is excellent for general use, covering everything from 35mm wide angle, through 50mm standard to 70mm short telephoto/portraits, and of course all the focal lengths in between. It's the ideal range to keep on your camera at all times, and is great for landscapes, travelling, holidays, family pictures, portraits and many more subjects. The diagonal angle of view is around 64 to 35 degrees on film cameras
Simple adapters are available (not included) to use Contax/Yashica-fit lenses on many Canon EOS, Olympus, Panasonic and Leica Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds, Samsung NX and Sony NEX digital cameras, with manual focusing and diaphragm, compatible with aperture priority auto or manual exposure modes and stopped down metering. They work particularly well on models with an electronic viewfinder (EVF). The effective focal lengths are increased on most models due to the smaller sensors, to around 56-112mm (most EOS), 52.5-105mm (NX and NEX) or 70-140mm (FT and MFT).
Close focusing to 0.5m (20 inches) at all focal lengths, for a macro reproduction ratio of 1:6 (one sixth life size) at 70mm. This fills the frame with a subject as small as 144x216mm (6x9 inches) on film, and even smaller on most digital cameras. Very comprehensive markings include distances in feet and meters, infrared index, depth of field scales and reproduction ratios. The zoom/focus ring is large with a rubber grip for secure handling.
Maximum aperture is f/3.5-4.5, and apertures stop down to f/22-32 for maximum depth of field, with half stops from f/5.6 to f/16. Automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with metered manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes on all models, plus program modes on some Yashica cameras (see below).
Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare against the light, with increased contrast and colour fidelity. Standard 55mm filter thread. This independent Sicor-XL lens is extremely well constructed (in Japan) with a solid, metal barrel and lens mount, smooth controls, clear markings in multiple colours and a very high standard of fit and finish. It's compact at only around 80mm (3 inches) long on the camera at its smallest settings, and weighs 420g.
A great standard zoom lens for Contax/Yashica cameras, and many others!
Condition: Mint- (almost as new)
The lens is in fully working order and excellent condition. The zoom/focus control works smoothly with little play, and barely slips when pointed up or down. The diaphragm stops down smartly and is free of oil, and each aperture setting clicks into place positively. The glass is very clean with no scratches, bubbles, fungus, cleaning marks or other problems, beyond some tiny specks of dust as usual, which will not affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically it has a smooth black finish, clean paintwork with clear markings, and there are just some signs of handling here and there. The box is showing signs of age but complete, and the accessories are in good condition. No dents, dings or deep scratches, the filter thread is undamaged, and overall, it looks great! At the time of listing we have more than one of this item, but the pictures and description here are representative of all of them.
Boxed with hard case, front and rear lens caps
Compatibility

It fits Contax SLR cameras including the RTS, RTS II, 139 Quartz, 137MD, 137MA, S2 and S2b, with automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with metered manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes. Contax/Yashica lenses do NOT fit the Contax N-series AF models such as the N-1, NX and N Digital, which use a new and totally incompatible lens mount. Not suitable for Contax G cameras (though an adapter was available - not included) or any other Contax models.

Other cameras including digital
Adapters are available (not included) to use Contax/Yashica-fit lenses on many Canon EOS, Olympus, Panasonic and Leica Four Thirds and Micro Four Thirds, Samsung NX and Sony NEX digital cameras, with manual focusing and diaphragm, compatible with aperture priority auto or manual exposure modes and stopped down metering.
