This is an unusual tele converter for the Minolta SR series of 35mm manual focus SLR cameras, and some others with restrictions (see below). It's in very good condition for its age, and comes boxed with lens caps and instruction leaflet.

This converter fits between the camera and lens, and gives 3x magnification. It can be used with just about any lens (except some very wide/old types, where the rear elements protrude too far), but works best with telephoto lenses, so a 135mm becomes a 405mm, and a reasonably priced 200mm becomes a 600mm, which would usually be very expensive.

The converter couples to the camera's auto diaphragm system, but does not have any meter coupling connections. These aren't required for the SR cameras which don't have TTL metering, but it means there are restrictions on the later SRT, X, XG and XD models (see the Compatibility section below). A 3x converter requires three stops extra exposure.

This independent Prinz Galaxy Auto 3x Converter is very nicely made (in Japan) with a solid, metal barrel and lens mounts, and a high standard of fit and finish. The glass is coated to reduce flare and light loss, and increase contrast. The converter adds under 35mm (1.5 inches) to the length of the lens attached, and weighs just 130g. Prinz Galaxy was a brand name used by Dixons in the UK, where this converter was originally sold in the 1960s.

The converter is in fully working order and very good condition. The glass is very clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, but just some specks of dust and other tiny marks as usual, which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically there is only the usual evidence that it's been used, with some surface scratches and scrapes - mainly on the bayonet mounts. The box and instructions are showing signs of age, but the caps are in good condition.

No dents, dings or deep scratches, and overall it's in nice shape!

Compatibility
This converter fits Minolta manual focus SLR cameras including the SR-1, SR-2, SR-3, SR-7, SRM and other SR models, with Auto Rokkor, MC Rokkor or MD Rokkor lenses, or independent types in SR, MC or MD fittings. Compatible with automatic diaphragm, and meter coupling is not required.

It will also fit many of the later Minolta manual focus SLR cameras with the same lenses as above, but without the MC or MD connections required for full aperture metering. This means you will either have to use manual stopped down metering (if the camera allows this, using the depth of field preview facility), or estimate and set the exposure manually. Suitable cameras include the Minolta SRT100, SRT100B (SRT200), SRT101, SRT101b (SRT201), SRT303 (SRT102), SRT303b (SRT202) and other SR-T models, XE-1 (XE, XE-7), XE-5 (XE-b), XG-1, XG2 (XG7, XGE), XG-M (X-70), XG9, X-300 (X-370), X-300s (X-370N), X-500 (X-570), X-600, X-700, X-9, XD5, XD7 (XD, XD11) and other X, XG and XD models, plus the professional XM (X-1, XK) and XK Motor. It also fits the Centon DF-300, plus some recent Chinese Soligor and Seagull cameras, which use the Minolta mount. Not really suitable for the Minolta XG-A (X-7) which has no manual exposure facility.

Minolta SR lenses and accessories do NOT fit the Minolta AF, Maxxum, Dynax or Alpha autofocus cameras, Vectis APS models, Dimage digital cameras, Sony Alpha and NEX or any other makes.
