Sigma is one of the top independent lens manufacturers, and this is an excellent telephoto zoom lens with macro close focusing for many of the earlier Canon EOS 35mm and APS SLR cameras, plus the D30 and D60 digital (but NOT any later film or digital models such as the 30D - see full list below). It's in very good condition, and comes with original lens caps.

The zoom range covers all popular focal lengths from 70mm to 85mm portrait, 85mm to 135mm medium tele and 135mm to 210mm telephoto. This makes the lens ideal for great pictures of sports, portraits, children, wildlife, travelling and many other subjects. Angle of view 34 to 11.5 degrees. Large push-pull zoom ring, with a ribbed rubber grip for improved handling.

On the Canon EOS D30 (not 30D) and D60 you get an even longer effective focal length range equivalent to around 112-336mm, providing extra telephoto power and magnification. On the EOS APS cameras it's equivalent to around 88-262mm.

Close focusing down to 1.2m (3.9 feet) at all focal lengths, for a macro reproduction ratio of 1:4.7 (between one quarter and one fifth life size) at 210mm. This fills the frame with a subject as small as 113x170mm (4.7x7 inches) on film, and even smaller on the D30 and D60 digital. Focusing is automatic or manual on EOS cameras, and the manual focusing ring has a rubber grip for ease of use. Comprehensive markings include distances in feet and meters, infrared index and even depth of field scales.

Auto diaphragm and full aperture metering using electrical contacts, compatible with all metering and exposure modes (see below). Maximum aperture is f/4-5.6, and the lens stops down to f/22-32 for extra depth of field. As with all EOS fit lenses, aperture settings are controlled from the camera.

Multicoated (MC) glass for increased contrast and colour fidelity, with reduced flare against the light. The optical construction is 13 elements in 9 groups. Standard 52mm thread for filters and other accessories, plus an external bayonet mount for a lens hood (not included). This Sigma UC lens is very well made (in Japan) with a metal barrel and lens mount, smooth controls and clear markings. It's compact at under 85mm (3.25 inches) long on the camera at its smallest settings, and weighs 460g.

A nice telephoto zoom lens for earlier Canon EOS users!

The lens is in fully working order, AF and manual focus work well, and the zoom action is smooth and barely slips when pointed up or down. There's a small amount of play in the manual focusing ring and front section, but this common and doesn't cause any problems. The diaphragm stops down smartly and is free of oil. The glass is very clean with no fungus, misting, scratches or other problems, beyond some specks of dust and other tiny marks as usual, which will not affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically there is only the usual evidence that it's been used, with some surface marks here and there. The lens caps are in good condition.

No dents, dings or deep scratches, the filter thread is undamaged and overall it's in nice shape!

We believe it will work with the Kodak DCS Pro SLR/c (with full frame coverage), which seemed to be based on a Sigma body design with EOS lens mount. Canon EOS fit lenses and accessories are not suitable for the FD or FL manual focus cameras, EX models, or any other make.
