This easy to use adapter allows you to use hundreds of Nikon-fit lenses on your Sony NEX digital compact system camera. Infinity focusing is maintained (it may focus slightly beyond infinity with some lenses), and as there's no extra glass required the optical quality is not affected.

You can use manual focusing in aperture priority automatic or metered manual exposure modes, with stopped down metering. You set the aperture on the lens or adapter, and the camera sets the shutter speed automatically. Because of the smaller sensor in these digital cameras the effective focal lengths are increased by 50 per cent, so a 50mm lens provides the same field of view as a 75mm on a film camera.

The adapter has its own diaphragm control ring, and you turn this to the Lock setting to stop down the aperture. On lenses with their own aperture rings you use this to set the precise setting you want. On lenses with no aperture ring (such as Nikkor G, IX or DX types) you can adjust the diaphragm using the ring on the adapter instead, and it's continually variable from full aperture (Open) to minimum aperture (Lock), though the precise settings aren't marked.

It's simple to use - you can either fit the adapter to the lens first, then bayonet the combination onto the camera, or fit the adapter to the camera first and then attach/remove multiple lenses as required. The adapter locks securely onto the camera and is released using the button on the body, and a release button on the adapter allows lenses to be removed. It adds around 28mm (1.1 inches) to the length of the lens, and weighs approximately 75g.

The adapter is in excellent condition and fully working order. It fits cameras and lenses smoothly (the tension may vary slightly) and locks securely. The diaphragm control ring works smoothly. Cosmetically it shows only the usual signs of use with some surface marks here and there, but no dents, dings or deep scratches. The cap is in good condition.

This adapter fits Sony NEX digital compact system cameras including the NEX-3, NEX-5, NEX-C3, NEX-F3, NEX-5N and NEX-7. It's NOT suitable for Sony Alpha DSLR cameras, or any other makes.

This adapter is suitable for the vast majority of Nikon, Nikkor and independent lenses in Nikon fittings, including manual focus pre-AI (F), AI, AIS and E-series, plus AF and AF-D auto focus lenses (with aperture rings), plus Nikkor AF-G, DX digital and IX APS, Sigma DC, Tamron Di-II, Tokina DX or other Nikon-fit lenses (which have no aperture rings). In all cases focusing is manual, and exposure works in metered manual or aperture priority auto modes, with stopped down metering.
