This is an excellent flash unit for most Canon EOS 35mm and APS SLR cameras (see below), but not the 300X (Rebel T2, Kiss 7) or any digital models. It's powerful, has a bounce, swivel and zoom head, AF illuminator, and provides fully automatic dedicated TTL flash control. This one's in good condition and comes with batteries.

28-85mm zoom flash head with wide angle, standard and telephoto positions, to give extra coverage for wide angle lenses, and extra range with telephotos. The flash head tilts up to 90 degrees and swivels over 270 degrees for bounce flash in vertical or horizontal positions. Bounce flash gives much softer, more natural lighting than direct flash.

Powerful guide numbers of 19-37 (m), 62-120 (feet) with ISO 100 film, depending on the zoom setting. Theoretical maximum range of over 23m (75 feet) with 50mm f/1.4 lens and ISO 100 film, and up to double this with ISO 400, but as with all flashguns, actual range will depend on the conditions.

TTL (Through The Lens) automatic flash control system for extremely accurate exposures. Comprehensive control panel on the rear. Works automatically in all exposure modes, including Program. Automatic fill-in flash in daylight, including slow sync flash on suitable cameras. Hi and Low power settings - the latter avoids over-exposure close up, and dramatically reduces recycling times.

Works in the camera's autofocus mode, and has a large AF illuminator on the front to assist focusing in low light. This operates automatically when required, up to around 6.5m (21 feet) with suitable cameras. Although this independent flash is quite large at around 135mm (5.25 inches) tall on the camera, it's lightweight at only 320g without batteries. It accepts 4x standard AA batteries, including alkaline (supplied) or rechargeable types. Auto shutoff to conserve battery power when not being used.

An excellent flash unit for most Canon EOS film users!

The flash is in fully working order and good condition, with just the usual signs of use, including some scratches and surface scrapes in the plastic finish, including on the control panel (though it's still perfectly legible). There's a small amount of play in the head, but this is common and doesn't cause any problems. The battery compartment is clean with no signs of corrosion. No cracks, splits or deep scratches, and overall it's in good shape! At the time of listing we have more than one of this item (branded either Miranda C-AF 32 or Nissin 132AFC), but the pictures and description here are representative of all of them.

Compatible with almost all Canon EOS 35mm cameras including the EOS 1, 1V, 1V HS, 1N, 1N RS, 5 (A2), 3, RT, 100, 10, 30, 33, 50, 50E, 55QD, 300, 300V, 500, 500N, 600, 620, 630, 650, 700, 750, 850, 1000, 1000F, 1000N, 1000FN, 3000, 3000N, 3000V and 5000, plus the equivalent Rebel, Elan and Kiss models and many others. Also works with the APS EOS IX and IX-7 (IX Lite) models, but NOT the EOS 300X (Rebel T2, Kiss 7) - see below.

Fully auto exposure in all modes, including program. TTL (Through The Lens), OTF (Off The Film) flash metering for the most accurate exposures possible. Automatic setting of shutter speed and aperture in appropriate modes, with flash ready signal in the viewfinder.

TTL flash units like this one are NOT suitable for EOS digital cameras, or the EOS 300X (Rebel T2, Kiss 7). These are only compatible with the completely different E-TTL dedicated flash system, and you need Canon's own EX series flash units, or the latest independent flash units with E-TTL from independent makers which are specifically stated to be digital compatible. Not suitable for Canon manual focus cameras, the EF-M or any other make.
