This is an unusual Canon telephoto lens for the classic FL manual focus SLR cameras such as the FT QL, FP, Pellix and others, plus many FD models with restrictions (see below). It's solidly made, in good condition with lens caps, and is ideal for anyone who uses or collects this classic camera system. It can also be adapted to Canon EOS and Olympus/Panasonic Micro Four Thirds digital cameras with restrictions - see the Compatibility Information section below for more information.

Canon FL/FD fit lenses can be used on the Panasonic Lumix G, Olympus Pen and other Micro Four Thirds, Ricoh GXR Mount A12, Samsung NX, Sony NEX and Pentax Q digital cameras with suitable adapters (not included). They work with manual focusing (simple using Live View on the camera's EVF and/or LCD), and manual diaphragm, in manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes. The effective focal lengths are increased because of the smaller sensors, which gives this lens a field of view equivalent to 270mm (MFT), 202mm (GXR, NX, NEX) or 742mm (Q) respectively.

Maximum aperture is f/3.5 and the diaphragm stops down to f/22 in full stops. Automatic diaphragm and manual switch for depth of field preview, or use on manual accessories such as bellows or adapters. Compatible with stopped down metering on suitable FL, FD and digital cameras (see below). Close focusing down to 1.5m (under 5 feet), with distances clearly marked in feet and meters, plus basic depth of field scale and infrared index. The focusing ring is large and has a ribbed rubber grip for smooth handling. The glass is coated for reduced flare against the light. Canon 48mm filter thread which does not rotate when focusing, making the lens much easier to use with polarizing, graduated and square filters or other accessories.

This lens is very well constructed (in Japan) with a solid, metal barrel and lens mount, clear markings, smooth controls and a smooth black finish with chrome locking ring. It measures around 90mm (3.5 inches) long on the camera at infinity, and weighs a solid 435g. The breech lock mounting system is one of the most reliable available, and is largely free from the effects of wear, as the mating surfaces don't move in relation to each other. It was used on Canon FL and early FD lenses, and independent types.

The lens is in fully working order and good condition. Focus and aperture controls work smoothly, the diaphragm stops down smartly and is free of oil, and each aperture setting clicks into position positively. The glass is clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, beyond some specks of dust and other tiny marks as usual (including a tiny curved one inside), which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically the lens has a smooth finish, clear markings and only some scratches and scrapes here and there, plus some paint wear around the aperture and breech lock rings. The lens caps are in good condition.

No dents or dings, the filter thread is undamaged, and overall it's in good shape for its age!

Compatibility
This lens fits all Canon FL 35mm SLR cameras including the FT, FP, FX, TL, Pellix and others, with automatic diaphragm and stopped down metering. Also usable on many Canon FD manual focus cameras, including the F-1 (all versions), FTb, FTbN, EF, AE-1, AT-1, A-1, AE-1 Program, AL-1, AV-1, T50, T60, T70, T80 and T90, with auto diaphragm and stopped down metering. Manual exposure on most models, plus aperture priority auto in stopped down auto mode where available.

FL lenses and accessories do not directly fit the autofocus EOS cameras, any digital cameras or the EF-M. Not suitable for the Canon EX-EE or EX-Auto, other Canon cameras or any other makes.

Adapters are available (not included) for use on EOS cameras with manual focusing and diaphragm operation, using stopped down metering in manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes only. Adapters with optical elements are required for focusing to infinity. Adapters are available (not included) to use FD lenses on the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G1, G2, G3, G10, GH1, GH2, GF1, GF2, GF3 and GX1, Olympus Pen E-P1, E-P2, E-P3, E-PL1, E-PL1s, E-PL2, E-PL3, E-PM1 and OM-D E-M5, plus the Pentax Q, Ricoh GXR Mount A12, Samsung NX5, NX10, NX11, NX100, NX200, Sony NEX-3, NEX-C3, NEX-5, NEX-5N and NEX-7 digital cameras, with manual focusing to infinity via the EVF or LCD, using manual diaphragm in manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes only. The IS (Image Stabilization) feature works on the Olympus cameras, with focal lengths set manually.
