This is a Power Winder (auto winder) from Canon for the company's classic A-series manual focus SLR cameras including the AE-1 Program, A-1 and many more - see the full list below. It's in good condition, fully working (though noisy) and comes with batteries.

The winder gives continuous winding at up to 2 frames per second on all models, with the choice of single shot or continuous modes on the Canon AE-1 Program and A-1. This is ideal for fast moving subjects such as sports, children and even portraits where you want to take another picture quickly as the subject changes expression. It also means you don't need to take the camera away from your eye to wind on - especially useful for people who use their left eye for viewing.

An electrical remote release socket can be used with any standard cable with 2.5mm plug (not included) for remote control with the A-1 and AE-1P cameras (but not other models), reducing camera shake when used on a tripod. Built in, standard 1/4-inch tripod socket.

The winder is powered by 4x standard AA batteries including disposable alkaline (supplied) or rechargeable NiCd or NiMH types, which are inexpensive and easily obtainable. There's storage provided for the winder cover from the camera's base plate. A rewind button allows film to be rewound manually without removing the winder.

Typical high quality Canon Pro construction - made in Japan. The winder adds only around 27mm (1.1 inches) to the height of the camera, and weighs only 200g without batteries. This Canon Power Winder A2 is the second model that Canon produced for the A-series cameras. The original Winder A had no remote control socket, or single shot mode.

The winder is in good condition and fully working order. It has been checked on our Canon camera and works fine, though it is quite noisy. The on/off switch operates positively. The finish is good with just normal signs of use, including some scratches and scrapes here and there. The battery contacts are clean, with no sign of corrosion.

No cracks, splits or deep scratches, and overall it's in good shape!

Compatibility
This winder fits Canon A-series manual focus SLR cameras only. Compatible models are the Canon AE-1, AT-1, AL-1, AV-1, AE-1 Program (AE-1P) and A-1. The remote control and single frame features work only on the A-1 and AE-1 Program models, as extra electrical connections are required on the base of the camera.

It will not fit any other Canon cameras such as the F-1, T-series, EOS or digital models, or any other makes.
