This is a classic 200mm telephoto lens with interchangeable lens mounts for many Nikon, Exakta/Exa and Topcon SLR cameras. Although branded Yashinon-R, it's actually a Hanimex lens and uses the H mount system.

The lens has a maximum aperture of f/4.5 stopping down to f/22, and the diaphragm has more than 12 blades which gives a very round shape and can improve the "Bokeh" or quality of out of focus parts of the image. The minimum focusing distance is less than 3m (10 feet), and the focusing ring is a decent size with a ribbed metal grip for improved handling. Standard 55mm filter thread. It has a rotating tripod mount with standard 1/4-inch thread to give better balance when it's used on a tripod, monopod or other support, and to reduce strain on the camera's lens mount. With the Nikon mount it measures around 155mm (6.1 inches) long on the camera at infinity, and weighs 565g.

This is a manual preset lens, so it has two aperture rings. The front one is click-stopped, and used to preselect the diaphragm setting you want to use. The second can be turned quickly to open the lens fully for focusing, or to stop it down just before the picture is taken. It's solidly made (in Japan) with metal barrels, control rings and lens mounts. Markings include distances in feet and meters, depth of field scales and infrared index, and it has coated glass to reduce flare against the light. The filter thread does not rotate when focusing, which makes the lens much easier to use with polarizing, graduated and square filters and other accessories.

Condition: Excellent++ (8/10)
The lens is in fully working order and good used condition. The controls operate smoothly and positively, and the diaphragm is free of oil. There's a small amount of play in the front section, but this has no effect on operation. The glass is very clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, but just some specks of dust and other tiny marks which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically it shows only signs of normal use, with some surface scratches and scrapes here and there, but no dents, dings or deep scratches. The mounts show signs of use and each only has two of the original screws to lock it into place, but still holds securely. The filter thread is undamaged, and overall it's a perfectly good "user".

Compatibility
The lens accepts interchangeable Hanimex H mounts for many different cameras. Each mount screws onto the rear of the lens, and screws can be loosened to allow the lens to be rotated in the mount to align the scales at the top. Two H mounts are supplied – Nikon and Exakta/Exa/Topcon. The Nikon mount will fit the company's digital SLR cameras, though not all models provide exposure metering with manual lenses. The Exakta/Exa mount will fit all the East German models with bayonet mount, plus the Topcon Exakta-mount models, but not those using UV lenses. Extra adapters can be used (not included) to fit Canon EOS, Olympus and Panasonic digital cameras. Most models will work in manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes with stopped down metering, and manual focusing.
