This Yashica CS-250 AF is an excellent TTL auto bounce and zoom AF flashgun for Yashica AF SLR cameras (see list below), plus the manual focus FX-103 Program and many Contax models. It's well used but in fully working order, and supplied with batteries.

The bounce flash head tilts up to 90 degrees for bounce flash, giving much softer, more natural lighting than direct flash. Zoom facility for lenses from 28mm and 35mm wide angle, through 50mm standard to 85mm (and longer) telephoto. This gives longer range with telephoto lenses, and better coverage with wide angles as appropriate.

Guide numbers vary from 32m (104 feet) to 21m (68 feet) with ISO 100 film, depending on the zoom setting. Auto range of up to 15m (49 feet) with ISO 100 film and 50mm f/1.7 standard lens. Greater range is available with faster films. As with all flashguns, actual range will depend on the conditions. TTL (Through The Lens) flash control system for extremely accurate exposures. Works automatically in all exposure modes, including Program. Thyristor circuitry for faster recycling and more flashes per set of batteries. High and low power manual settings provided to prevent over exposure close up.

Works in the camera's autofocus mode, and has a large AF illuminator on the front to assist focusing in low light. This operates automatically on AF cameras when appropriate. Comprehensive control panel on the rear of the flash provides distances from 1 to 30m (3 to 50 feet), apertures from f/2 to f/32, film speeds of ISO 100 and 400 and zoom settings from 28 to 85mm. Ready light and test button provided. A socket is built in for off-camera accessories from the Contax TLA Multiple Flash System (not included).

The flash is very nicely made (in Japan), yet weighs only around 240g (without batteries). Locking shoe fitting for secure mounting. Takes 4x standard AA batteries including disposable alkaline (supplied), or NiCd and NiMH rechargeable types. The battery compartment cover is captive, so it can't easily be dropped or lost.

An essential flash for Yashica AF and Contax users!

The flash is in fully working order, and has been checked on our Contax and Yashica cameras. Cosmetically it shows considerable signs of use with scratches and scrapes in the plastic finish, plus some hardened glue around the flash head where an accessory has previously been attached. The battery contacts are clean with no sign of corrosion. Overall it's not pretty, but it works fine! Pictures in this listing show the actual item offered for sale.

Compatibility
This flash works with dedicated auto TTL exposure control and auto shutter speed setting on the Yashica AF SLR cameras, including the 200-AF, 230-AF, 270-AF and 300-AF, plus the manual focus FX-103 Program. It works with manual flash control on other Yashica models with a hot shoe.

The flash also works with dedicated auto TTL exposure control and auto shutter speed setting on the Contax RTSII, RTSIII, 159MM, 167MT, ST, RX, RXII, AX and Aria, N1, NX and the 645AF medium format camera, plus the Contax G1 and G2 "rangefinder" cameras. It is compatible with the Contax N Digital, but as with all TTL flash units on this camera some experimentation may be required for accurate exposure (this is due to the high reflectivity of the sensor compared to film). Works with manual flash control on the Contax RTS, 137MD, 137MA, 139 Quartz, S2 and S2b.

The flash can be used on other cameras with a standard (non-dedicated) hot shoe, but only in manual modes.
