Lenses for the classic Mamiya Z 35mm SLR cameras are now getting harder to find... This original Mamiya telephoto lens is in excellent condition, comes with case, strap, lens caps and instructions, and is suitable for all Mamiya Z models including the ZE, ZE2, ZM and ZE-X (see below).
200mm is a very popular telephoto focal length, suitable for many applications, including sports and nature photography. It offers 4x magnification compared to a standard 50mm lens. Fixed focal length (prime) lenses like this typically offer better optical quality than more expensive zooms, in smaller, lighter packages.
Close focusing down to under 2m (6.5 feet). Large, smooth focusing ring (over 50mm/2 inches wide) with rubber grip allows very fast and easy operation. Distances are marked clearly in feet and meters, plus infrared index and comprehensive depth of field scale.
Automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure modes including auto and program on the Mamiya ZE-X (see below). The auto setting has a lock, which isn't always the case with independent lenses. Maximum aperture is f/4 - faster than many zooms which often drop to f/5.6 at the long end of the zoom range. The lens stops down to a smaller than usual f/32 for maximum depth of field (with half stops between all settings).
Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare against the light, and increased contrast, plus built in sliding lens hood to reduce flare even further. Standard, compact 52mm screw thread for filters and other accessories. This does not rotate when focusing, making the lens much easier to use with polarizing, graduated and square filters such as Cokin.
The lens is extremely well made (in Japan), with a solid, metal barrel and lens mount, very smooth & positive controls and clear markings in multiple colours. It's compact and lightweight, at just 120mm (4.5 inches) long on the camera at its smallest settings, and just over 400g.
A great telephoto lens for Mamiya Z users and collectors!
Condition: Mint- (almost as new)
The lens is in excellent condition and fully working order. The focus and aperture controls work smoothly. The diaphragm stops down smartly and is free of oil, and the auto lock is positive. The lens hood slides smoothly. The glass is very clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, beyond tiny specks of dust as usual, which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically, there is only the usual small evidence that it's been used - a couple of minor scrapes on the body and lens hood, surface scratches at the rear where it's been fitted to a camera, etc. The box is showing signs of age but complete, and the accessories are in good order.
No dents, dings or deep scratches, the filter thread is undamaged, and overall it's in great shape!

Compatibility
This lens is Mamiya Z bayonet fitting for all Mamiya Z-series SLR cameras, including the ZE, ZE-2, ZM and ZE-X. Auto diaphragm and full aperture metering, using electronic contacts. Compatible with all exposure modes, including auto setting for shutter priority and program modes on the ZE-X.
Please note that Mamiya used several slightly different bayonet lens mounts for earlier cameras, such as the NC1000 and NC1000S, Auto XTL and Auto X1000. Z-fit lenses such as this one are NOT suitable for these cameras, medium format Mamiyas, the even earlier screw thread (M42) models, or any other make of camera.
