Minolta (then Konica Minolta) was one of the top SLR camera manufacturers. Hardly any heavier than many compacts at only 380g, this 35mm film camera body takes the same interchangeable lenses as the rest of the Minolta AF range, and some from the Sony Alpha digital range which uses the same lens mount. The Dynax 300si was sold in some countries as the Maxxum 300si, and similar models in others as the RZ330si and Alpha 101si.
It's very simple to use, with fully automatic (program) exposure, plus five special subject-based modes; portraits, landscapes, close-ups, sports and night scenes. Shutter speeds run from 30 seconds to 1/2000th. Eight segment metering system for accurate exposures, even with tricky subjects. Film speeds are set automatically with DX coded films, from ISO 25 to 5000 (25 to 1000 for flash operation).
Automatic or manual focusing with all Minolta AF and independent Minolta AF fit lenses (not included, but contact us or see our other auctions). Focus lock with first pressure on the shutter release, so you can easily and quickly focus on off-centre subjects. The built in flash can work as an AF illuminator to assist focusing in very low light, from approximately 1 to 5m (3.3 to 16 feet). The viewfinder has indicators for auto focus lock, continuous AF, flash on and flash ready. The top plate has a large LCD with exposure mode and status information.
Built in flash activates automatically when needed, or can be switched on or off manually. It covers lenses as wide as 28mm. TTL auto flash metering for the most accurate flash exposures possible. Can be used for auto fill in flash in daylight. Redeye reduction feature. Minolta Maxxum/Dynax shoe for external Minolta (and independent) flash units. WL setting for Wireless/Remote flash with suitable Minolta flash units.
Motor driven film loading, wind-on (single frame or continuous) and rewind, plus cancellable self timer. Power is supplied by a standard 2CR5 Lithium battery (included), which is a common type and easily available in most places. The camera is very simple to use, and the instruction manual is included.
An excellent introduction to the Minolta AF system!
Condition: Excellent++ (8/10)
This camera is in fully working order and good condition. The viewfinder is bright and clear with only the usual harmless dust specks, and all controls operate smoothly and positively. There are the usual small signs of handling, with some minor surface scratches and scrapes, mainly on the base plate and back, and some scratches on the top. The manual is in good condition and complete. No cracks, splits or deep scratches, and overall it's in good shape. At the time of listing we have more than one of this item, but the pictures and description here are representative of all of them.
Includes original instruction manual, plus battery
Compatibility
Minolta AF cameras can use any of the dozens of lenses in the vast Minolta range, including ultra wide angles and fisheyes, fast prime wide angle, standard and telephoto lenses, extreme teles and macro lenses, plus an array of zooms, including wide angle, wide-tele and telephoto. Minolta Power Zoom lenses are compatible, but the professional SSM lenses only work with manual focusing, and digital DT lenses are not suitable for 35mm cameras. In addition, most independent manufacturers produce lenses in Minolta AF fitting, including Sigma, Tokina, Tamron, Vivitar and many others. Sony lenses for the Alpha range of DSLRs fit, though the DT types won't cover the full frame.
Older Minolta MC and MD manual focus lenses will not fit, though adapters are available (not included). Other types of lens can be fitted using adapters (not supplied), including M42 screw, T2 (t-mount), Tamron Adaptall and others, with manual focusing and diaphragm operation.
