This is a high quality Sigma 280NA dedicated flash unit with TTL auto exposure control on most Nikon AF 35mm SLR cameras, some manual focus models, and the Fujifilm S1 Pro and S2 Pro digital. Please note that like most flash units for AF film cameras it is NOT suitable for the F55, or any Nikon digital cameras. It's new and boxed, complete with case, wide angle diffuser and instructions, plus 4x AA batteries.

Full TTL (Through The Lens), OTF (Off The Film) flash metering is available, which is the most accurate flash system available, with readings taken directly from the film during the exposure. It works with any aperture, and automatically allows for filters and close up accessories. Guide number is a useful 28m (90 feet) with ISO 100 film. Comprehensive scales on the rear of the flash include apertures from f/2 to f/22, distances from 0.7 to 20m (3 to 66 feet) and film speeds from ISO 50 to 1000.

In aperture priority and manual modes, the range depends on the film speed and lens aperture. With an f/2.8 lens and ISO 400 film (or f/1.4 and ISO 100), you can use this flash from 0.7 to 20m (2.3 to 65 feet), but as usual, actual range will depend on the conditions. The flash sets the shutter speed automatically and displays a flash ready indication in the viewfinder. You can also use Program TTL mode, where the camera sets both shutter speed and aperture automatically. Flash range in Program TTL mode is 0.7 to 10m (2.3 to 33 feet) with ISO 100 film, and 1.5 to 20m (5 to 66 feet) with ISO 400 at f/2.8.

The flash coverage is sufficient for lenses down to 35mm (on film cameras), and an extra wide diffuser is supplied for 28mm lenses. Works in the camera's autofocus mode, and has a large AF illuminator on the front to assist focusing in low light. This operates automatically when required, so you can take AF pictures in complete darkness!

The flash is very nicely made, yet weighs under 200g without batteries, and has firm controls and clear scales. A locking button allows the flash to be fixed tightly to the camera's hot shoe. Power is supplied by 4x standard AA batteries and Alkaline disposable (supplied) or NiCd and NiMH rechargeables can be used. An Auto OK indicator on the rear of the flash confirms correct exposure in TTL mode. Thyristor circuitry for fast recycling and more flashes per set of batteries.

An excellent flashgun for many Nikon AF film and early Fujifilm DSLR users!

COMPATIBILITY INFORMATION
Works on most Nikon 35mm AF SLR cameras, including the F-401 (N4004) series, F-501 (N2020), F-601 (N6006), F-801 (N8008), F-801s (N8008s), F50 (N50), F60 (N60), F65 (N65), F70, F75 (N75), F80 (N80), F90, F90x, F100, F4 and F5. Works on the Nikon Pronea 600i APS AF SLR camera, but not the Pronea S which has no external flash shoe. Not suitable for the F55 (N55) - see below. Auto dedicated operation with TTL flash control, auto setting of shutter speed and/or aperture (depending on exposure mode) plus viewfinder flash ready indication.

Works with the Nikon-based Fujifilm Finepix S1 Pro and S2 Pro digital SLR cameras (but not Nikon DSLRs or the S3 Pro and S5 Pro - see below).

Works on TTL-capable Nikon manual focus SLR cameras, including the FE2, FM3A, FA, FG, F-301 (N2000) and F-601M (N6000).

NOT suitable for the Nikon F55 (N55) or non-TTL Nikon manual focus SLR cameras, as it has no external sensor and would only fire on full power. The same will be true of most independent Nikon-AF fit flash units on these cameras. Not suitable for non-TTL manual focus SLR cameras for the same reason.

NOT suitable for any Nikon digital SLR cameras, or the Nikon-based Kodak DCS Pro 14N, DCS Pro SLR/n, Fujifilm S3 Pro and S5 Pro, which use different D-TTL and I-TTL dedicated flash control systems. Not suitable for Nikon Coolpix digital cameras.
