This is a really useful Hoya Wide Hood, suitable for many wide angle, standard and telephoto lenses. It screws in to many larger lenses with a standard 77mm thread, and can be unfolded into three positions. A lens hood provides shading for the front element of your lens, excluding extraneous light which can cause unwanted reflections, flare and loss of contrast. For the best results, a hood designed for the correct angle of view should be used.

On 35mm cameras (or full frame digital) the Wide setting works for lenses from 28-50mm, Standard is for 40-70mm, and Tele is for lenses longer than 70mm. On 6x6 or 6x7 medium format cameras the equivalent focal lengths are 60-100mm, 90-150mm and 130mm+ respectively. On many digital SLRs such as Canon EOS models with smaller sensors, the focal lengths are 18-30mm, 25-45mm and 45mm+ respectively. Other formats are also usable, with suitable equivalent focal lengths.

The hood is made from a stiff rubber material with metal thread and weighs 60g, measuring around 110mm (4.5 inches) in diameter, extending from around 30mm (1.25 inches) to 52mm (2 inches) long at the different settings.

Standard 77mm screw thread fitting for many 35mm, medium format, large format and digital cameras and lenses.
