The Nikon F-301 (sold as the N2000 in some countries) was the company's first 35mm SLR camera with a built in auto winder, plus auto or manual exposure and many other features. It accepts Nikon AI manual focus lenses, and many other types (not included - see below). This one's in good used condition, and comes with generic body cap and batteries.
The camera has a range of auto exposure modes, including aperture priority for depth of field control and program modes for ease of use. There are two programs - normal and high speed (for action shots), which chooses faster shutter speeds with wider apertures. Metered manual mode allows the ultimate control, and displays both selected and suggested shutter speeds in the viewfinder. The metering system is centre-weighted, and you can use exposure compensation of up to plus/minus 2 stops, or the auto exposure lock in really difficult lighting, or for special effects. Film speeds are set automatically for film speeds from ISO 25 to 4000 when set to the DX position, or manually from ISO 12 to 3200.
Shutter speeds go up to a fast 1/2000th of a second on auto or manual. There's a large, easy to operate shutter speed dial (which many users prefer to push buttons or command wheels), to select manual speeds, B for time exposures, and aperture priority, program or high speed program modes. The auto modes lock to prevent the dial being moved accidentally. Built in motor drive for single frame or continuous advance up to 2.5 frames per second, and lock position to prevent accidental shutter release. A socket is provided for Nikon electrical remote releases (not included). Power is provided by 4x standard AAA batteries (supplied), which are inexpensive and easily obtainable in many places.
The viewfinder is large and bright, with split image and microprism focusing aids. An easy to read LED scale shows shutter speeds plus over/under exposure warnings and flash ready. There's a standard hot shoe with extra contacts for full dedicated TTL flash control with suitable external flash units (not included, but check our other listings). Flash sync operates at all shutter speeds up to 1/125th. Other useful features include optional audible warnings, electronic self timer, film transport indicator, film preview window and a standard 1/4-inch tripod socket.
If you're looking for a robust manual focus SLR body, don't miss this nice camera!
Condition: Excellent++ (8/10)
The camera is in fully working order and generally good condition. The viewfinder is bright and clear with only a few harmless dust specks, and all controls operate smoothly and positively. There are the usual signs of use with some surface scratches and scrapes here and there, a tiny crack in the plastic top plate, wear on the rear leatherette, some engraving on the base, etc.
No dents or dings, and overall it's in good used shape!

Compatibility
This camera has Nikon's standard AI lens mount, and can use a massive range of Nikon and independent lenses (not included). Manual focus AI or AIS lenses give auto diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure modes including program.
It also accepts many Nikon AF and AFD fit lenses, for manual focusing and all exposure modes. The exceptions are the G Nikkors and other types which have no aperture ring, and some specialized lenses. Note that IX Nikkor lenses for the APS cameras, and DX Nikkors for digital models are NOT compatible with 35mm cameras.
Many manual, pre-set and mirror lenses and accessories can be used for aperture priority auto and manual operation only, at working aperture.
The very early (pre-1977) non-AI lenses and accessories should NOT be fitted, as they can foul the meter coupling lever. Conversions to AI are possible for many such lenses.
