This is an extremely compact and lightweight IX Nikkor 60-180mm tele zoom lens for the Nikon Pronea APS SLR cameras with auto or manual focusing, and full Nikon D compatibility. While IX lenses will NOT fit Nikon 35mm or digital SLR cameras, they can be used manually on digital compact system cameras such as Olympus and Panasonic Micro Thirds or Sony NEX (with a suitable adapter - not included). This one's in very good condition and comes with lens caps.
The handy zoom range (equivalent to around 75-225mm on 35mm cameras) covers all popular telephoto focal lengths, and is ideal for great pictures of sports, portraits, children, wildlife, travelling and many other subjects. It makes an ideal second lens for the Pronea cameras, complementing the 20-60mm, 30-60mm or 24-70mm IX Nikkor standard zoom lenses.
Focusing is automatic (on Pronea) or manual down to 1.2m (4 feet) at all focal lengths. There's a wide zoom ring with rubber grip, and a manual focus ring at the front, with ribbed surface for better handling. Automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure and metering modes, including modes such as 3D Matrix which require D lenses. Maximum aperture is f/4.5-5.6, and the lens stops down to a smaller than usual f/32-38 for maximum depth of field.
Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare against the light, with increased contrast and colour fidelity. Standard 46mm thread for filters and other accessories. This lens is very compact and lightweight for its range at only around 70mm (2.75 inches) long on the camera at its smallest settings and 220g, so there's no excuse for not carrying it around. Please note that there are two slightly different versions of the IX-Nikkor 60-180mm lens. This silver coloured version is slightly smaller and lighter than the black one, but slower and made in Thailand instead of Japan.
Digital Compact System Cameras
IX Nikkor lenses can be used manually on some digital cameras including Olympus and Panasonic Micro Four Thirds or Sony NEX with a suitable adapter (not included). You'd set the camera to A (aperture priority) auto exposure mode, select an aperture manually on the lens adapter, focus manually using the ring on the lens (the image can be magnified to help with this), and the camera will then set the shutter speed automatically. The equivalent focal length ranges are approximately 120-360mm (MFT) and 90-270mm (NEX).
An essential tele zoom lens for Nikon Pronea users, and a handy option for users of digital compact system cameras!
Condition: Excellent+++ (8.5/10)
This is a nice lens, in fully working order. All couplings work properly, and operation has been checked on a Nikon Pronea S camera. The controls work smoothly, and while the front section has a little play this is common and doesn't cause any problems (lower friction = faster AF). The glass is very clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, but just some specks of dust and other tiny marks as usual, which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically it has a smooth finish and only the usual signs of use with some surface marks here and there in the plastic finish, and some small scratches on the rear mount where it's been attached to a camera. The caps are also in good condition.
No cracks, splits or deep scratches, and overall it's in nice shape!
At the time of listing we have more than one of this item, but the pictures and description here are representative of all of them.
Includes Nikon front lens cap and generic rear cap
Compatibility
Nikon IX-Nikkor lenses are suitable for the Nikon Pronea S and Pronea 600i (Pronea 6i) APS SLR cameras, plus the related Kodak DCS 315 digital SLR.
They will NOT fit any Nikon 35mm or digital cameras, or any other Nikon-fit DSLR models from Fujifilm or Kodak. Although the basic bayonet fitting is the same as other Nikon lenses, the protruding rear mount prevents them being fitted to non-APS cameras.
Other digital cameras with extra adapters
IX-Nikkor lenses can be used on some digital compact system cameras with suitable adapters (not included), such as the Olympus Pen and Panasonic G Micro Four Thirds or Sony NEX models. Some Samsung NX and Pentax Q adapters may also be suitable, but this is unconfirmed. Focusing and diaphragm operation are manual, and the camera will work in manual or aperture priority auto exposure modes. NOTE: Any adapter must have its own aperture ring as there's none on the lens, and not all adapters will fit because of the protruding rear section - please check compatibility if buying an adapter elsewhere. Our adapters have been tested and confirmed compatible with IX Nikkor lenses.
