This is Pentax's own auto winder (power winder) for many of the company's popular manual focus 35mm SLR cameras (see below), such as the ME, ME Super, ME-F, MG, MV-1, Super A (Super Program), Program A (Program Plus) and P50 (P5). This one's in good condition with new batteries, and you can download a copy of the instruction manual free of charge (see link below).

It provides continuous winding at up to 2 frames per second (depending on the shutter speed), and the choice of single shot or continuous modes. Automatic film advance is often preferred for many types of photography, particularly sports, wildlife, action and even subjects which don't move very fast, but do change quickly - portraits, children, etc.

The winder has an integral grip with electronic shutter release which improves handling, especially with large, heavy lenses. Pressing the release lightly turns on the camera's metering system in the same way as using the original shutter release. There's an Auto/125X switch for correct operation with electronic and mechanical shutter speeds. A remote control socket is provided for the Pentax 5m Winder Remote Cord (not supplied, but check here), which is ideal for wildlife and other photography where the camera can be concealed and released from afar.

It's extremely well made (in Japan) and feels very solid, adding only around 25mm (1 inch) to the height of the cameras, and adding 275g to the weight (without batteries). Powered by 4x standard AA batteries, and disposable Alkaline (supplied) and NiCd or NiMH rechargeable types can be used. Built in tripod socket, and rewind lever so film can be rewound manually without removing the winder. Storage is provided for the winder cover from the camera's base plate.

The winder is in good condition and fully working order (checked on our ME Super). All controls operate positively. The finish is good with just the usual signs of use including some surface scratches and scrapes here and there, and minor paint wear. The battery contacts are clean with no signs of corrosion.

No dents, dings or deep scratches, and overall it's in good shape!

This winder fits the Pentax ME, ME Super, ME-F, MG, MV-1, Super A (Super Program), Program A (Program Plus) and P50 (P5).

It is NOT suitable for the Pentax MX, LX or K2DMD (which take different winders and motor drives), the Pentax MV and P30 (P3) series (which have no connections for a winder), AF or digital cameras or any other models or makes.
