This is a genuine Rikenon P standard zoom lens from Ricoh, for all the company's XR and KR cameras, many other Pentax K and PK bayonet mount manual focus SLR cameras, plus some AF and digital models with restrictions - see below. It's in good condition (but with a small piece of trim missing - see below), and comes with lens caps.

This focal length range is ideal for general use, covering everything from 35mm wide angle, through 50mm standard to 70mm short telephoto/portraits, and of course everything in between. It's the ideal range to keep on your camera at all times, and is great for landscapes, travelling, holidays, family pictures, portraits and many more subjects. The diagonal angle of view is 63 to 34 degrees on film cameras.

On the Pentax and Samsung digital SLRs (see below) it offers a field of view equivalent to a 52-105mm lens - a useful range for portraits, glamour, fashion and many other subjects. The Shake Reduction (SR) and OPS (Optical Picture Stabilization) features work to reduce camera shake at slow shutter speeds on suitable cameras, with the focal lengths set manually.

Close focusing down to 0.35m (14 inches) at all focal lengths, for a macro reproduction ratio of around 1:4.5 (between one quarter and one fifth life size) at 70mm. This fills the frame with a subject as small as 108x162mm (4.5x6.8 inches) on film, and even smaller on most digital. Distances are clearly marked in feet and meters. The large focusing and zoom rings have rubber grips for secure handling and fast operation.

Automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure modes including program on suitable Ricoh XR and KR cameras, plus manual and aperture priority modes on other PK cameras (see below). Maximum aperture is f/3.4-4.5, and the lens stops down to f/22-32 for maximum depth of field. Locking P setting for program and shutter bias modes on suitable Ricoh cameras.

Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare against the light, and increased contrast and colour fidelity. Optical construction is eight elements in eight groups. Standard, compact 52mm filter thread. The lens is very compact and lightweight at just 50mm (2 inches) long on the camera at infinity, and a mere 190g. It's nicely made (in Japan), with a metal lens mount, smooth controls and clear markings.

A handy little zoom lens for Ricoh, Pentax K and PK users!

Condition: Excellent++ (8/10), trim missing
The lens is in fully working order, and focus and zoom controls work quite smoothly with little play. The diaphragm stops down smartly and is free of oil, each aperture setting clicks into place positively, and the lock works securely. The glass is very clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, but just some specks of dust and other tiny marks as usual, which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically there are some small scratches on the bayonet mount, surface marks here and there in the plastic finish, etc. The original rubber grip on the focusing ring has been replaced, and a piece of trim is missing from the front of the ring. The caps are in good condition.

No cracks, splits or deep scratches, the filter thread is undamaged, and overall it's in good shape!

This lens is Pentax K and Ricoh fitting, so will fit all manual focus Pentax bayonet cameras, including the KM, KX, K2, K1000, ME, MX, ME Super, ME-F, MG, LX and others, plus numerous Chinons, Vivitars, Cosinas and many other cameras using the popular PK mount. All models give automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with manual or aperture priority auto exposure modes. Program modes work on the Chinon CP-5, CP-6 Spot, CP-X and CP-7M, but NOT on the Chinon CP9AF.

Fits all Ricoh K mount and XR mount SLR cameras, including the Ricoh KR5, KR5 Super, KR5 Super II, KR5 Super III, KR-10, XR-10 (KR-10X), KR-10 Super, KR-10M, KR10X (XR-10), KR30SP (XR-20SP), XR1, XR1S, XR2, XR-2S, XR-S, XR-500, XR5, XR6, XR7, XR7M, XR7M II, XR8, XR10M (KR10M), XR-F, XR-P, XR-S, XR-X (XR-M), XR-X3PF, XR-X3000 and others. Automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure modes. Locking P setting and electronic connection for program and shutter priority modes on suitable Ricoh cameras.

Also fits later Pentax KA cameras including the Super A (Super Program), Program A (Program Plus), A3 (A3000), P50 (P5), P30N, P30T and MZ-M (ZX-M), compatible with manual and aperture priority modes only. It will fit the original model Pentax P30 (P3), but for manual exposure only.

Will also fit most Pentax AF cameras, for manual focusing and aperture priority or manual exposure with auto diaphragm and full aperture metering. Compatible models include the SFX (SF1), SFXn (SF1n), SF7, Z-1 (PZ-1), PZ-1 (PZ-1P), Z-10 (PZ-10), Z-20 (PZ-20), Z-70 (PZ-70), MZ-3, MZ-5 (ZX-5), MZ-5n (ZX-5n), MZ-6 (ZX-L), MZ-7 (ZX-7), MZ-10 (ZX-10) and MZ-S.

The exceptions are the budget MZ-30 (ZX-30) and MZ-50 (ZX-50), which requires KA or AF lenses for all metering modes, so this lens could only be used in manual mode with a separate meter, the MZ-60 (ZX-60) which will NOT work at all with manual focus lenses.

Also suitable for Pentax digital SLR cameras including the *ist D (with firmware version 1.1 or greater), DS, DS2, DL, DL2, K100D, K100D Super, K110D, K200D, K10D, K20D, K-m (K2000), K-x, K-r, K-7 and K-5 digital SLR cameras - the effective focal length will be increased by 50 per cent (see above). Equally suitable for the Pentax-based Samsung GX-1S, GX-1L, GX-10 and GX-20 cameras, but not other Samsung models. The camera works in Hyper Manual mode with PK lenses - set the aperture on the lens, press the Green or AEL button (Av on the K-m/K2000), and the camera selects the correct shutter speed automatically, and displays it in the viewfinder. Manual metering can also be used, with stopped down metering using the depth of field preview facility where available. To use PK lenses you need to set "Using Aperture Ring" in the "Custom Setting" menu to "Permitted.

With a suitable adapter (not included) PKA/R lenses can be used on many Canon EOS (not film or full frame digital), Olympus, Panasonic and Leica FourThirds (4/3), Micro Four Thirds, Pentax Q, Samsung NX and Sony NEX digital cameras, with manual focus and diaphragm, in manual and aperture priority auto exposure modes, using stopped down metering.

NOTE: Some independent manual lenses don't fit AF cameras or the MZ-M, as protrusions at the rear foul the power zoom contacts or other features inside the mount, or because the Ricoh electrical contact drops into a screw hole in the mount. We've checked this lens on Pentax and Samsung digital cameras, and it fits and works fine.
