Tamron is one of the leading Japanese independent lens manufacturers, and this 2x tele converter has multicoated glass, and comes with front/rear caps. It's in good condition, and compatible with Minolta manual focus SLR cameras (see below for full list) and lenses, but not AF or digital models.

The converter fits between the camera and lens, and doubles the focal length. It can be used with just about any lens (except some very wide/old types, where the rear elements protrude too far), but work best with standard, telephoto and zoom lenses. A 50mm standard becomes a 100mm portrait lens, and a reasonably priced 70-210mm becomes a 140-420mm, which would usually be very expensive.

The converter couples to the camera's auto diaphragm and full aperture metering systems, and will work in all manual and auto exposure modes (including program on suitable models - see below). TTL metering systems (including TTL flash) will handle the 2 stops exposure adjustment required automatically. The close focusing distance of the original lens is retained, so you get extra magnification for close ups. A zoom lens that focuses down to 1:4 (one quarter life size) on its own will manage 1:2 (half life size) with the converter.

Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare and light loss, with increased contrast and colour fidelity, using a four element optical design. This converter is very nicely made (in Japan) with a solid, metal barrel and lens mounts, rubber grip and a high standard of fit and finish. It adds only around 28mm (1.1 inches) to the length of the lens attached, and weighs around 140g.

The converter is in fully working order, with all couplings working smoothly. The glass is very clean with no scratches, misting, fungus or other problems, but just some specks of dust and other tiny marks as usual, which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically it shows only the usual evidence that it's been used with some surface scratches and scrapes, minor paint wear, small marks on the bayonet mounts, etc. The caps are in good condition, and the JCII "Passed" quality control sticker is still in place. No dents, dings or deep scratches, and overall it's in good shape! Pictures in this listing show the actual item offered for sale.
