This is a genuine Yashica flash unit, suitable for many of the company's rangefinder and SLR cameras, as well as many others with a standard hot shoe connection (see below). It has quite a high trigger voltage, so please check the Compatibility section below for important information.
The guide number is 16m (52 feet) with ISO 100 film. A table on the rear of the flash includes apertures from f/1.4 to f/22, distances from 1.4 to 5.7m (4.5 to 19 feet) and film speeds from ASA (ISO) 25 to 400 and DIN 15 to 27. Manual exposure control, with a range of up to around 9.4m (30 feet) with an f/1.7 lens at ISO 100. It works well with compact cameras using the flashmatic system of auto flash exposure control, where you set the guide number on the camera and the aperture is set automatically as you focus. The flash gives sufficient coverage for lenses down to 35mm.
This is a very compact flash unit at only around 92mm (3.6 inches) tall on the camera, and just 80g without batteries. Power is supplied by 2x standard Alkaline disposable AA batteries (included).
An excellent little flashgun for Yashica and many other cameras!
Condition: Mint- (almost as new)
The flash is in excellent condition, fully working order and it charges and fires correctly. Cosmetically it shows just the usual handling marks here and there in the plastic finish. The battery contacts are clean, with no evidence of battery leakage or corrosion. The box is showing signs of age but complete, and the instructions are in good condition.
No cracks, splits or deep scratches, and overall it's in great shape!

Compatibility
This flash has the once-standard shoe with electrical connection, which fits cameras with a hot shoe. These connections have been fitted to cameras for generations, including many 35mm SLR, compact and rangefinder cameras.
IMPORTANT NOTE: This type of flash is really designed for manual (mechanical) cameras, and has a trigger voltage of 72v. This isn't particularly high (we've seen older units with hundreds of volts!), but it shouldn't be used with modern electronic, AF or digital cameras, which typically expect a voltage of around 6v to 24v (ISO standard). If in doubt, please check with your camera manufacturer for the safe voltage for your equipment.
