Vivitar was one of the top accessory brands, and this is a set of auto extension tubes which fit between your SLR camera and lens for extra close focusing (macro) shots, up to 1:1 (life size) or even better. They're suitable for Canon FD and FL manual focus 35mm film SLR cameras including popular models such as the A-1, AE-1, T70, FTb and many others with FD or FL lenses, but not EOS models or the EF-M. Adapters are available (not included) for these and other digital cameras, with FD and FL lenses only. The tubes are in fully working order, good used condition, supplied with case, caps and instructions. Please read the full description for more important information.
Three tubes are supplied – 12mm, 20mm and 36mm – which can be used singly or together, and the longer the extension used, the closer you'll get. With a 50mm standard lens, all three tubes will get you to greater than 1:1 (actually around 1.36x life size). This is as better than most dedicated macro lenses, filling the frame with a subject as small as 18x26.5mm (0.8x1.2 inches), and is ideal for photographing many small objects such as coins, stamps, insects, etc. Even greater magnification is available with some wider angle lenses, while longer focal lengths offer lower magnification but more comfortable working distances.
The tubes retain the fully automatic diaphragm and full aperture metering systems of the original camera and lens combination (where appropriate), so are fast and easy to use, with no extra manual procedures required. Compatible with all exposure modes, including manual, auto and program where available. TTL metering systems (including TTL flash) will take care of the required exposure correction automatically. These Vivitar AT-4 tubes are very solidly made (in Japan) with metal barrels and lens mounts and a high standard of fit and finish. Breech lock fitting for Canon FD and FL cameras and lenses (see below).
An essential close up set for many Canon manual focus users and collectors.
Condition: Excellent++ (8/10)
The tubes are in fully working order, mount quite smoothly and securely with all linkages working correctly (checked on our Canon FD cameras and lenses). Cosmetically there is the usual evidence that they've been used including some surface scratches, scrapes and minor paint wear here and there, etc. The instructions are a copy but complete (in English) and quite legible, while the case (original) and caps are in good condition and fit OK.
No dents, dings or deep scratches, and overall they're in good shape.
Includes Vivitar case, instructions (copy), generic front and rear caps.
Pictures in this listing show the actual tubes offered for sale.
