This is an excellent auto bounce zoom flashgun for many Canon, Chinon, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax 35mm manual focus SLR cameras (but not most AF or digital models). It's ideal for photographers with more than one type, or those looking to upgrade. A sliding switch sets the flash to work with each type of camera, and with suitable models the shutter speed will be set automatically when the flash is charged, and a ready light will appear in the camera's viewfinder on most models. There's also a standard setting for non-dedicated use on many other film cameras. The flash is in good used condition, fully working order, supplied with extra wide angle diffuser, colour filters and instructions, plus Alkaline batteries. Please read the full description for more important compatibility information.
The bounce flash head tilts up to 45, 65 and 90 degrees for bounce flash, which gives much softer, more natural lighting than direct flash, reduces the chance of redeye and spreads the light out to cover wider lenses. The zoom flash head adjusts for wide angle (35mm), normal (50mm) and telephoto (85mm and longer) lenses giving wider coverage or greater range as appropriate, plus an extra wide diffuser is supplied for 28mm lenses.
Useful guide numbers are around 34m (110ft) at the tele setting, 30m (100ft) at standard, 25m (84ft) at wide angle and 16m (56ft) with the diffuser, using ISO 100. This gives a theoretical maximum range of around 20m (65 feet) with ISO 100 film and 50mm f/1.4 lens, or 23m (75 feet) with a 135mm f/2.8 lens and ISO 400 film, but as with all flashguns, actual range will depend on the conditions. Two auto exposure modes are available, giving ranges of up to 11.5m (37 feet) at f/2.8, or 8m (26 feet) at f/4 with ISO 100, at the telephoto setting. Thyristor circuitry is used in the auto modes for faster recycling and more flashes per set of batteries, and a full power manual option is provided.
A comprehensive control panel on the rear of the flash provides distances from 1.1 to 18m (3.6 to 60 feet), apertures from f/1.4 to f/22 and film speeds from ISO 25 to 1600. There's a ready light, plus an auto check light confirms correct exposure after the shot has been taken. This independent Miranda 630CD flashgun is nicely made, around 115mm (4.5") tall and weighs only around 240g (8.5oz) without batteries. Power is supplied by 4x standard disposable alkaline AA batteries (one set is supplied). Locking shoe fitting for secure mounting.
An excellent flash for many manual focus SLR users.
Condition: Excellent++ (8/10)
The flash is in good condition and fully working order (checked on suitable film cameras), while the movements and controls work properly. The shoe is quite a tight fit, and the dedicated pins may need to be eased in manually. Cosmetically it shows the usual surface scratches and scrapes here and there in the plastic finish, while the battery contacts are slightly marked (not corroded) but have been cleaned and work fine. The instructions are complete (in English) and legible, and the accessories are in good condition.
No cracks, splits or deep scratches, and overall it's in good shape.
Includes instructions, diffuser, filters and 4x Alkaline AA batteries. At the time of listing we have more than one of this flash, but the pictures and description here are representative of all of them.

The flash is NOT compatible with TTL or program flash modes, or any later AF and digital cameras. It works on the original Pentax P30 (P3), but only in manual mode as this camera doesn't support aperture priority. Other cameras
The flash is also suitable for other film cameras with a non-dedicated hot shoe connection, in auto or manual modes. It's NOT suitable for most digital cameras. Although the trigger voltage is reasonably low at under 10v, it's negative polarity which makes it unsuitable for most digital models. It works fine on our Fujifilm S9500, but won't fire on any of the digital SLR cameras we tried.
